AM950 is proud to welcome Nancy Nelson as AM950's talk show host of "The Nancy Nelson Show", 5 - 6 p.m. Weekdays starting Wednesday, July 28th, 2010. Mike McIntee, host of "Quick On The UpTake" and veteran network TV news journalist and citizen media advocate, is leaving to focus on his nonprofit citizen's journalism venture, "The UpTake."

"We are excited about bringing Nancy's upbeat and knowledgeable voice on Minnesota issues to the public debate'," said Janet Robert, General Manager. "We also look forward to Mike's updating us from time to time on the latest stories covered by the citizen journalists at "The Uptake".

Nancy Nelson has had a happy, long and diverse career, beginning with acting on the live stage at the age of eight. One of Minnesota's best-loved personalities, Nancy Nelson began her 45-year broadcasting career while still in high school, hosting KMSP TV's teen dance show Date with Dino and as WCCO TV's "Saturday Night Weather Girl".

While a student at the University of Minnesota, Nancy was named Miss Minnesota and went on to place as second runner-up to Miss United States. She was recognized in Washington DC as one of America's Outstanding Young Women. In 1970 she married the love of her life, former WCCO TV's anchor Bill Carlson.

Nancy went on to anchor television news at KTTV in Los Angeles, and Nancy hosted her own talk show on KABC-AM radio in Los Angeles.

Nancy also hosted one of the country's first infomercials, and CBS News dubbed her the "Queen of Infomercial".

Nancy Nelson will be a great progressive voice on AM950. In addition to hosting "The Nancy Nelson Show" 5-6 p.m. weekdays, Nancy will continue to broadcast "Nancy Nelson: Make a Difference," Saturdays Noon - 1 p.m.

AM950 and The UpTake will continue to work as partners to bring you local political coverage. Mike and other members of The UpTake will continue to provide AM950 with coverage of breaking Minnesota political events as they did during U.S. Senator Al Franken's election recount and election contest trial.
