We feature two men behind the musical Complicated Fun that is playing at the MN History Theatre in St. Paul through May 29th. Playwright Alan Berks and Musical Director Nic Delcambre join host Paul Metsa in a discussion of this musical that highlights the underground music scene in the Twin Cities in the early ’80’s before it exploded onto the national scene. Mr. Berks talks about the play, his history of works, and his inspiration for writing the play. Mr. Delcambre talks about the strategy behind playing many songs from that time in a variety of styles. Mr. Delcambre and Paul Metsa then play the Replacement’s “Here Comes a Regular” live in the studio.
