The Matt McNeil Show – June 16, 2021

Hour 1 segment 1: It’s Matt’s pet corner! We talk about why your cat should not roam your neighborhood freely and how they will not win a fight with most wild animals.

Hour 1 segment 2: We take an Alaskan adventure with MN state Sen. Bill Ingebretsen! Listen to here why. Also the MN COVID-19 update.

Hour 1 segments 3/4: Matt is joined by our usual Wednesday guest, Jeff Stein, as they talk about the G7 meeting where Biden interacted with foreign leaders like Vladimir Putin, European trade, right-wing terrorism and more!

Hour 2 segment 1: Colleen Moriarty, executive director at Hunger Solutions Minnesota, joins Matt to talk about a proposal from MN Republicans that would eliminate SNAP recipients ability to use their benefits at Farmers Markets (the program is called Market Bucks).

Hour 2 segment 2: More on the proposed elimination of the Market Bucks program and the man behind it, Sen. Torrey Westrom (who also calls him self a Christian conservative). And guess who is defending the Market Bucks program? None other than Sen. Mary Kiffmeyer.

Hour 2 segment 3: Bring Me the News reports the man who is accused of plowing into a crowd of protesters in Minneapolis Sunday night, killing Deona Marie Knajdek Erickson and injuring three others, admitted he sped up to “jump” a barricade, charges say. He also admitted he saw the people he was approaching and knowingly still accelerated, making the act intentional. Yet Matt brings up that we’re still hearing the narrative that he was just a “drunk driver.” And police needed to break up violence that erupted in Moorhead at a conference from the Center for the American Experiment on stopping “critical race theory.”

Hour 2 segment 4: Matt’s message to the Catholic Church, where US bishops are debating whether to deny communion to President Joe Biden over his stance on abortion.
