The Matt McNeil Show – July 7, 2021
Hour 1 segment 1: Some sad news about the passing of Gordon “Gordy” Lundquist of Gordy’s Hi-Hat restaurant in Cloquet has died at age 93. The Delta variant is spreading rapidly spreading throughout the US and Minnesota. US Rep. Jim Hagedorn from CD1 in MN has unfortunately had his kidney cancer resurface. And state rep. Mary Franson spews an incredibly stupid conspiracy theory conflating COVID vaccinations with Democratic vote harvesting.
Hour 1 segment 2: Police in Plymouth are searching for an SUV owner after fatally shooting another driver taking his son home from a baseball game on a highway in Plymouth during a traffic altercation. Why doesn’t the local news media treat this shooting the same way they treat shootings in Minneapolis?
Hour 1 segments 3/4: Jeff Stein joins to talk about prosecuting the domestic terrorists responsible for the Jan. 6 insurrection. US Rep. Mo Brooks blames Trump for his appearance at the Jan. 6 Capitol rally, saying he only spoke because the White House told him to. Why Republicans are trying to turn Jan. 6 insurrection terrorist Ashli Babbitt into a martyr. And thoughts on Trump’s lawsuit against social media giants.
Hour 2 segments 1/2: The state Senate finally adjourns after Paul Gazelka threatens to “execute” (Kurt Daudt’s words) more of Gov. Walz’s commissioners, who happen to be women. Meanwhile state Se. Dave Osmek compares MPCA commissioner Laura Bishop’s resignation to using a noose to hang.
Hour 2 segments 3/4: Matt highlights three selfish idiots who thought they were clever. #1 is the owners of Alibi Drinkery, which defied COVID restrictions and had their liquor license revoked. They attempted to get a new license which they had to withdraw since it made misleading claims about who would run the bar. #2 is the owner of the Interchange in Albert Lea (also defied COVID restrictions), who tried to remove a judge in her lawsuit for frivolous reasons. Plus a bar owner who claimed COVID restrictions did not apply to his land.
