Highlighting the Lakota word for grandmother, this vibrant exhibition is a tender and powerful homage to the matriarchs and elders who shape contemporary Native life, collective identity, and sovereignty. Through bright, expressionist portraiture, playful neon elements featuring rez slang, and intimate storytelling, SeeWalker’s work beautifully balances reverence and resistance to remind us that generational knowledge is passed down in everyday moments.
