The Illegal Trans Woman – Ep. 39: After the Shooting: What’s at Stake for Trans Lives

It’s a very somber show in the wake of the Annunciation Catholic church/school shooting—my heart goes out to the victims of that senseless attack! What horror for them and for our community! However, the attack, by a transgender person, may turn out to be the watershed moment MAGA extremists have been looking for; they could now use it to force trans people into detention camps. I specifically talk about how the concept of “gender ideology” is not real; my “ideology” is compassion and kindness for all humans. And just by luck, the Big Interview is with Mike Phelan, a Vermillion SD bookstore owner who decided to sell his business and move his family to the east coast when the SD Legislature passed a law that prevented Mike’s 10-year-old transgender daughter from using the girls restroom at her elementary school. As Mike explained, “my daughter told me she has a ‘female heart.’” We shall see what the Trump Administration does to me (with my own female heart) and a million+ other trans Americans.
