The Matt McNeil Show – July 15, 2021

Hour 1 segments 1/2: An update on speeding semi truckers in Matt’s neighborhood. Andy Mannix of the Star Tribune breaks a story showing that as Third Precinct burned last summer, the Minneapolis police destroyed case files (some possibly active) with little to no oversight. What was the MPD thinking? And who ordered the files destroyed?

Hour 1 segments 3/4: Matt is joined by Ogimaa Giniw Ikwe of Native Roots Radio and Julius Kapushinski of the Democratic Socialists of America Brained chapter. They discuss how Enbridge’s Line 3 drilling process is basically like fracking and how line 3 construction caused a spill over 80-100 gallons of drilling fluid. And now Enbridge wants to use that same drilling method near the Mississippi River headwaters. They also talk about ways you can be involved to stop Line 3 and more.

Hour 2 segment 1: A man found ‘hiding’ after crashing truck into Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Governor Tim Walz signs an executive order to ban gay conversion therapy.

Hour 2 segment 2: State Senator Mary Kiffmeyer (R-Big Lake) is mad at Secretary of State Steve Simon for not verifying state rep. John Thompson’s (DFL-St. Paul) address. Yet Kiffemeyer has no problem with questions about State Sen. Julie Rosen’s (R-Vernon Center we think) address.

Hour 2 segment 3: Matt is joined by meteorologist Sven Sundgaard of Bring Me the News. It’s a rare day where we can actually talk about rain! Unfortunately we’re still so far behind on rain that almost all of Minnesota remains in a drought. They also discuss how the heat dome that’s currently over the western US could move towards Minnesota and more.

Hour 2 segment 4: More proof the workforce exists to hire workers for businesses who complain about not being able to make hires because as they say, “people don’t want tom work.”
