The Matt McNeil Show – January 12, 2022

Hour 1 segment 1: Matt has a COVID scare at home. If he needs to quarantine could we spend a whole show riffing the movie Armageddon. Mike Lindell runs some fuzzy math and says over 300 million Americans should be jailed for voter and election “fraud.”

Hour 1 segment 2: Pete Stauber is touting extra funds in his district that will help with airports. However those funds come from the Democrats infrastructure bill, which he voted against.

Hour 1 segments 3/4: It’s our usual Wednesday visit with Jeff Stein. Today Matt and Jeff talk about the Jan. 6 House committee asking Kevin McCarthy to appear, whether a politician from Florida could win a national election, more 2024 prognosticating of the Republican primary and more.

Hour 2 segment 1: A man has been arrested in connection to a South St. Paul van theft with a show dog inside. Bring Me The News reports more than 2,000 Minnesotans were arrested for drunken driving over the holidays. And Matt proposes a MN constitutional amendment that would give counties only the same amount of tax dollars that they pay in.

Hour 2 segment 2: Michele Tafoya leaves NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Could she be gearing up for a political run in Minnesota? Or possibly going to the TV show the View?

Hour 2 segment 3: The MN COVID-19 update. Minneapolis and St. Paul institute proof of vaccines to enter bars and restaurants. And predictably right wingers throw a tantrum.

Hour 2 segment 4: Governor Tim Walz announces additional funding for hospitals struggling with the Omicron outbreak. The Star Tribune reports Minneapolis schools will go virtual for two weeks starting Friday because of staff shortages from Omicron. And should people who are vaccinated receive a tax break?
