Hour 1 segment 1: It’s Matt’s last show until he takes a vacation. Jack Rice, Brett Johnson and Todd Mikkelson will be filling in the next few weeks. The Duluth News Tribune reports a trail camera helped tip authorities to the whereabouts of a murder suspect, Eric Reinbold, of Oklee, Minnesota, who had eluded police for more than three weeks. Reinbold is charged with the murder of his wife, Lissette Reinbold, who was found dead July 9 in a home near Oklee. The MN COVID-19 update.

Hour 1 segment 2: Minnesota’s COVID test positivity rate inches above 5 percent. How that spike in COVID cases is likely to have a far greater impact on conservative, unvaccinated areas of the state.

Hour 1 segments 3/4: Jeff Stein joins Matt for his usual Wednesday. They discuss how Republican politicians are responding to the current COVID wave, whether Dr. Anthony Fauci can remain an effective messenger when Republicans have politicized him (Matt and Jeff clarify that’s not Fauci’s fault), Trump being forced to release his tax returns, Trump not blocking his DOJ officials from testifying at the 1/6 insurrection commission and more!

Hour 2 segment 1: We start this hour talking about the Olympics and how sportswriters try to create controversy by saying we shouldn’t care about the US winnings medals that aren’t gold.

Hour 2 segment 2: Right wingers have gotten to the point where they’ll cheer against the United States at the Olympics.

Hour 2 segment 4: The Pioneer Press reports The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that a state law requiring individuals to have a permit to carry a handgun in public is constitutional and does not violate the Second Amendment. Matt talks about how carry and conceal still has not prevented gun violence.
