The Illegal Trans Woman – Ep. 69: Heading to North Dakota for Trans Visibility and Advocacy
This week, I’m preparing to head West to Fargo and Moorhead, continuing my mission to bring visibility to places where our community is often kept in the shadows. In this “Talking Head” show, the first Big Story focuses on a disturbing new trend of anti-trans ballot measures in Washington and Maine that seek to ban trans girls from sports and mandate invasive medical exams for children. I also discuss the “preemptive compliance” at Boston University, where Pride flags were recently scrubbed from view, and the ongoing efforts by the federal government to erase trans humans from official records. For a much-needed dose of inspiration, I highlight the courage of Luanne James, a Tennessee library director who is risking her career to keep LGBTQ+ stories on the shelves. Finally, in Random Acts, I share my personal self-care routine—including a milestone 700th Peloton ride—and my thoughts on the grim ironies of the current war.
