Build, Play, and Connect with Forts at Children’s Theatre
You’re invited to pull back the curtains for Forts at Children’s Theatre, an interactive play that transforms the theater into a sprawling, fort-building wonderland. This unique production invites children and their families to step directly into the scene, which is filled with an eclectic mix of old sofas, whimsical lampshades, and towering stacks of cardboard boxes. Rather than sitting in traditional seats, guests become part of the performance as they design everything from soaring castles to cozy neighborhoods, guided entirely by their own creativity and the theatrical elements provided.
As the structures grow, participants become gradually immersed in an evolving sensory world of ambient sound and light. Throughout the show, gentle and nearly invisible facilitation by the performers supports connection and collaboration, allowing unique stories and shared play to emerge naturally between builders. This immersive journey of construction and community runs through April 5 at Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. Tickets and more information are available at childrenstheatre.org.
