The Illegal Trans Woman – Ep. 41: Fighting for Trans Youth: Courts, Care, and Challenges Ahead
With this Ellie’s Talking Head show we cover how Boston Children’s Hospital convinced a federal judge in my old stomping grounds (Boston is where I learned to be a civil trial lawyer) to quash a Trump DOJ subpoena that sought to intimidate BCH into dropping its gender affirming care program for trans kids/youth. Way to fight back BCH! I also talk about the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court arguments on two cases challenging state bans on female trans athletes participating on women’s teams. Unfortunately, one of those women, Lindsay Heacox, a student at Boise State in Idaho, has now dropped her appeal due to “negative public scrutiny.” That will leave just the appeal of Becky Pepper-Jackson, a W. Va. high school sophomore who challenged that state’s ban, as the sole party seeking a ruling that such bans are unconstitutional. (Unfortunately, I don’t have much hope the S. Ct. will rule favorably…)
