The Saint Paul Hotel is rated a 4 diamond hotel and was recently named the best hotel in Minnesota. Business is up at the hotel and the hotel industry as a whole has recovered from its darkest days.  Yet Morrissey Hospitality, the company that manages the upscale hotel, has asked the employees of the hotel to do more work, yet receive less pay and make them pay for benefits that they’ve never paid for before, including a pay increase of over $1,000 for their healthcare.  Unite Here Local 17 is asking The Saint Paul Hotel to agree to virtually the same wage and benefit package as all other union hotels in the Twin Cities.  The Saint Paul Hotel is the only hotel trying to lower wages and benefit standards, ALL other hotels have agreed to accept a fair package for all unionized employees.  The workers at the top of the union pay scale have had only a 1% pay increase in the last four years.  The employees are dedicated and loyal and only ask for fair treatment.  They have sacrificed and done their part.  This is about union busting, profiteering and lowering the standards of the Hospitality Industry.
